About the Host
Agape Outreach Inc. (Agape) is proud to host the 2022 Heart of Women Awards.
Agape was founded in 2009 by Theresa Mitchell. Agape provides support for the homeless and needy in the Tweed Shire, Byron Shire and Gold Coast, providing a three-course meal for people on the streets and food hampers to families in need within their homes. Agape also supports people with doctor’s visits, court cases, life coaching and basic life skills training including barista courses, cooking classes, budgeting, and sessions for handling emotions, dealing with relationships and goal setting. Presently Agape is laying the foundations for Agape Living Estate, housing for the homeless in supported living. We foresee this project to be a reality in the local area soon.
Why Agape Outreach Hosts the Heart of Women Awards
In 2015 Theresa Mitchell, founder of Agape Outreach Inc. won the Wonders of Women Outstanding Achievement Awards’ Woman of the Year. Theresa felt honoured and blessed to win the award both personally and on behalf of the many volunteers and supporters of Agape. However, not long after having won the award, the organisation that ran the Wonders of Women Outstanding Achievement Awards ceased to operate.
Remembering how much it meant to both her and the team at Agape, Theresa wanted to pass that honour and blessing on to other women who by their courage, passion, enthusiasm and generosity are making outstanding achievements in our community — and so, in 2017, the ‘Heart of Women Awards’ was born, identifying and acknowledging the Tweed Shire and Gold Coast’s future Women of the Year.

Judging Panel
The judging panel consists of a skilled and experienced community panel, with a broad range of knowledge in community processes. This panel will review all nominations in line with the judging criteria and review and assess the information provided by the nominator. The panel selects five finalists within each category.
The finalists are then further assessed by a judge in the specified category and a winner chosen by that judge (for example, the Regional Manager in a Disability Service may assess the category of Health & Disability). All decisions made by the judging panel and the independent judges are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
Award Ceremony
Winners will be announced and Awards presented on Saturday 5th March 2022, to coincide with the timing of International Women’s Day.
In past years, Agape has been proud to host a ceremony and presentation of awards to finalist nominees and category winners. In view of current restrictions and future uncertainty as a result of COVID-9, we are unable to confirm what format the Awards presentations will take in 2022. A decision will be made and publicized in early 2022.
